A stationary electric charge usually produced by friction, which causes sparks or the attraction of dust or
hair. You probably only associate static electricity with experiments involving a balloon and hair raising.
If not that then by static electricity with the unexpected shock you sometimes get when you touch a
metal object but what does static electricity has to do with your business? And why should you care
about this shock inducing energy?

Static electricity becomes more common during the fall and winter seasons because of the lack of
moisture in the air. Though you might not be aware of it, but static electricity could damage your
electronic devices to the core. Static electricity can travel like a shock through your circuit boards and
destroy every element. Keeping that in mind, some of the ways you can help protect your devices from
getting electrocuted by static electricity are by

• Keeping humidity levels regulated
• Use static proof mats
• Use non-static sprays on electronics
• Refraining from using compressed air to clean circuit boards
• Avoiding placing any materials that cause static discharge such as plastic or polystyrene, these
materials are commonly the cause of static discharge.

While it is highly unlikely that you would be injured as a result of static electricity, even though it could
be possible, static charge can definitely destroy electronic equipment. These precautions are particularly
more important for larger electronic equipment than our small devices, like a server where critical data
